CUROLOX™ technology
CURODONT™ REPAIR enables the three-dimensional regeneration of enamel. The treatment is based on a novel technology (CUROLOX™) invented by researchers at the University of Leeds, UK.
Self Assembly
CURODONT™ REPAIR's main component is a patented peptide, which is present as a monomer when CURODONT™ REPAIR is dissolved. However, within the carious lesion the peptides form by self-assembly a large fibre-network or matrix.
When CURODONT™ REPAIR is applied onto a carious lesion, the monomers diffuse through the pores of the hypermineralised plate into the subsurface lesions. Within the subsurface cavities they form the three-dimensional matrix around which de novo crystallisation of calcium phosphate occurs.
Natural Mineralisation
This process is equivalent to the natural mineralisation process that occurs during odontogenesis, or the remineralisation process which – for a healthy tooth – is in equilibrium with the demineralisation process.
Note: CURODONT™ REPAIR arrests initial caries and initiates the natural, three-dimensional regeneration of enamel. The tooth heals.
